A learning-centred approach leans heavily on adult learning principles and a practical theology process which aims to nurture a safe space for critical reflection, dialogue, and practice from all involved in the learning process. It is sensitive to cultural differences and assessment during the learning process.
“Human beings are subjects or decision-makers in their own lives. The opposite of being a subject in one’s own life is feeling like an object, a thing used by others… Every part of education design is to invite [participants] to make decisions, to practice being the subjects they are.”–Jane Vella, Training Through Dialogue, p. 193
