Appointment of a new Director for IBTS

The Board of IBTS are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Enoh Šeba as Director of IBTS Amsterdam as of 1st September 2024.

Dr Enoh Šeba, from Zagreb, Croatia, brings substantial experience of senior leadership in the university sector and extensive involvement in developing and facilitating academic programs especially in the context of Croatia and Southeast Europe. He has a proven commitment to academic research and publishing with research interests in practical theology (particularly homiletics) and empirical studies. As a graduate (M.Th.) of IBTS in Prague and PhD from Spurgeon’s College London, Enoh identifies deeply with the baptistic identity and convictions of IBTS.

Enoh is deeply invested in fostering a culture of continuous learning and convinced of its transformative effects for the church and for mission. With a deep knowledge of practical theology Enoh brings a vision for a two-way process of theological education that brings together practitioners and academics, the church and the academy, the personal development of an individual students and the communal well-being of their congregations.

Dr. Michael Rohde, Chair of the board of IBTS says: “We are pleased that an extensive search for a new director has successfully concluded with the appointment of Dr Enoh Šeba. The board is convinced that we welcome a new director with a good international, interdenominational, and intercultural sensitivity and unanimously accepted the appointment committee's proposal. In the anniversary year of the IBTS, there will be a good transition from Mike Pears to Enoh Šeba and the IBTS will be able to strongly advance the vision of empowering scholars and leaders for the church in the world and become a strong hub for many European Baptist networks, seminaries and churches.”

In accepting the position at IBTS Enoh says “I am deeply honoured by the Board's decision to appoint me as Director.  In these turbulent times, the need for committed, engaged and faithful scholars and church leaders at all levels is acutely felt. As theological education undergoes major changes, I believe that IBTS will continue to evolve and meet this need, serving believers throughout the EBF region in new and old ways. I look forward to contributing to its work in the next period, with full respect for all the good work done in the past.”
